Just bought a new Lodar remote, or need to reset an existing one? This guide walks you through the full pairing process — step by step, no faff.
We're covering the Lodar TI Standard Transmitter, used in most 2, 4, and 6 function systems (and compatible with some 8 and 10 button setups too). Not sure which remote you have?
What You'll Need to Pair a Lodar Handset
Your Lodar TI remote (LoCover removed)
Access to the Lodar receiver unit
2 x AAA alkaline batteries (already fitted)
Optional: a paperclip or small tool to open the battery compartment — handy if you don't have fingernails
Step 1: Reset the Remote
Disconnect power to your Lodar receiver.
While the power is off, briefly press the STOP (red) button on the transmitter.
Pairing two remotes? Press STOP on both.
This clears any stored memory and gives you a clean slate for pairing.
Step 2: Enter Registration Mode
On the remote, press and hold both the STOP (red) and SET (green) buttons at the same time.
Hold for around 5 seconds until the LED starts to flash.
Release both buttons.
You should see the LED blink like this: FLASH… pause… FLASH… pause
That means the remote is in registration mode and ready to go.
Step 3 (Optional): Choose a Memory Location
If your system uses two transmitters, you can assign each one to a different memory slot:
Location 1: Single flash + pause
Location 2: Double flash + pause (FLASH FLASH pause…)
To move between slots:
Press SET (green) to go up
Press STOP (red) to go down
Only have one transmitter? Skip straight to Step 4.
Step 4: Register the Remote
Reconnect power to the Lodar receiver.
-
You now have a 10-second window to complete the pairing:
Press and hold the SET (green) button on the transmitter
Hold for 5 seconds, or until the receiver's STATUS LED lights up solid
Once the LED stays on, you're paired and ready to go.
Troubleshooting
Nothing happening? Check the batteries first — the transmitter takes two standard AAA batteries.
LED not flashing? You may not be holding both buttons long enough in Step 2. Give it a full 5 seconds.
Still not working? The receiver memory might be full or the unit could be damaged. [Get in touch] and we'll help you figure out next steps.

One Last Thing
Every Lodar remote has a built-in safety feature: if left idle for 30 minutes, the transmitter automatically sends a STOP signal and powers down. So if your system seems unresponsive after sitting unused for a while, that's likely why.
